Congratulations Jim Barry Wines | Aussie Wine Roadshow

Congratulations to our portfolio producer, Jim Barry Wines, who, on the eve of their 60th anniversary in August, was named 2020 Halliday Wine Companion Awards Winery of the Year!

“This recognition coinciding with our 60th Birthday has been a monumental achievement for us as a family and as a business,” says winemaker and managing director Peter Barry. “From one vineyard in 1959 to ten in 2019, we’ve come a long way and are proud of what our family has been able to achieve over our 60 years of winemaking. Our Clare Valley vineyards now include some of oldest vines in the region, with a range of highly rated red and white wines.”

Check out this YouTube video about Jim Barry winning the Halliday Winery of the Year award.

Jim Barry Wines’ stellar achievements coincide this month with a series of well-timed Aussie Wine Month events in New York, Miami, Los Angeles and San Francisco. More about these events below, but first, we’d like to share a little bit about the Jim Barry winery and its remarkable wines.

Jim Barry Wines: An Iconic Wine Family in Australia’s Clare Valley

In South Australia’s celebrated Clare Valley wine region, Jim Barry Wines is widely credited with helping to shape the valley as a benchmark producer of world class Riesling and Shiraz and with cementing Clare as one of Australia’s premier wine regions. Their most illustrious wine, The Armagh Shiraz, from a single vineyard planted in 1968, is one of the undisputed icons of Australian wine.

Founded in 1959 by Jim and Nancy Barry, today the winery and its vineyards are owned and managed by Jim’s son, Peter Barry, along with his wife, Sue Barry, and their three children – Tom, Sam and Olivia – who are winemaker, commercial manager and brand ambassador respectively.
