We’re very pleased to announce a new entry-level line of Coteaux Bourguignons wines produced by Nicolas Potel at his Burgundy négociant company, Maison Roche de Bellene. The Gamay Noir fruit is sourced from old vines in granite soils in the Beaujolais region of southern Burgundy.
The Coteaux Bourguignons (“Hills of Burgundy”) AOC is a new appellation created to showcase the classic taste of the entire Burgundy region, from south (Beaujolais) to north (Côte d’Or).
There are three wines in this new line:
Bellenos Cuvée Rouge
A fresh, delightful “Vin de Plaisir” produced with fruity, mineral-inflected Gamay Noir from the granite soils of Beaujolais, blended with finely structured Pinot Noir from the clay and limestone soils of the Côte d’Or.
2016 Bellenos Rosé of Gamay Noir
This lovely rosé of Gamay is from the Beaujolais area in southern Burgundy. Beautifully clean, ripe fruit and minimal cellar work are used in order to preserve the naturally fruity personality of the Gamay grape.
2015 Bellenos Cuvée Blanc
The Bellenos Cuvée Blanc is a blend of Chardonnay and Aligoté that results in a deliciously juicy, rounded white wine, with a silky texture and surprising depth.
